In recognition of Homelessness Week 2023, which takes place from Monday August 7 to Sunday August 13, PFS Global are proud to host The Redlands Corporate Sleepout.
Every night, nearly 20,000 people are experiencing homelessness in Queensland alone. On 10th August, we invite leaders in the Redlands business community to do the same – and raise vital funds for our local homelessness services, doing amazing work here in the Redlands.
Cost: $450 per business entitles you to two participants.
From this tax-deductable donation, $350 will buy 10 x Sleeping bags for Backpack Beds for Homeless, and $50 each will go to Night Ninjas and The Cage Youth Foundation so they can continue their amazing work in our Redlands community.
Date: Thursday, 10th August
Where: PFS Global Carpark, Unit 4, 17 Lennox Street, Redland Bay Business Park, Redland Bay.
Time: Participants to arrive between 6 - 7pm, and will conclude approx 8am, Friday 11th August.
What happens on the night?
Once everyone arrives, a simple meal will be provided by The Cage Youth Foundation, typical to what would be commonly available to someone sleeping rough. This will be followed by a talk from the team at Night Ninjas, who will have a chat to us about homelessness in Australia, the work they are doing and the important role that business and community can play in reducing homelessness. Once official proceedings wrap-up, it’s off to experience a night out in the cold.
What happens in the morning?
Night Ninjas will be back with some pancakes, and we suggest you spend some time reflecting on what you learned and experienced overnight.
What should I bring?
The weather may be cold and potentially wet. Make sure you wear warm, comfortable, casual clothes. Please bring your own sleeping bag. A pillow is optional. In keeping with the spirit of the event, please avoid airbeds, luxury bedding, hot water bottles, and other creature comforts, as well as extra food or snacks.
Electronic items such as mobile phones, tablets and cameras are very welcome to capture your experience of the Sleepout. We encourage social media updates encouraging your network to make donations and spread awareness of the cause.
What about the weather?
The event is designed to introduce you to what it’s really like to sleep rough. Regardless of the weather, the event will go ahead – so there are no excuses. However, some undercover areas will be made available in the case of heavy rain.
It’s a single night in the open, but it will change lives – including yours. Are you in?
A tax-deductable donation of $450 per Business entitles you to two participants.
Registrations close 5pm, Tuesday 8th August.
